On-site activities

Archery

A great introduction to an ancient sport. Archery requires concentration and determination. We will ensure that all participants are taught the correct technique in a safe and fun manner and encouraged to achieve their goals.

Catapult-build

Building full-scale catapults from poles, rope and elastic, this is a team challenge designed to encourage team work, cooperation and planning skills.

Crate stack

How high can your stack go? A great team high ropes activity, your task is to build a tower out of crates. This is about setting personal and team goals, supporting each other and building trust

Tree climb

In our ancient woodland, working together to climb one of the bigger trees. This practices communication between climbers and those supporting from the ground.

Tunnel trail

Our extensive artificial tunnel system is the perfect place for groups to experience an unfamiliar environment, practicing their communication skills and teamwork

Wilderness Explorer

A blend of map reading and treasure hunting. Working in small groups, heading out into the meadows and woods of the 30 acre estate, they answer questions about what they discover. This develops confidence and independence, as well as learning about the natural world.

Low ropes course

A great team event, a number of obstacles are set up that require teams to work together to successfully complete the course. Our instructors can set the appropriate challenges to meet the ability levels and outcomes that the group require.

Air rifles

On the air rifle range in a wildflower meadow, this Is about developing concentration and being focused. It is also about the satisfaction that comes from learning to improve - sometimes by making just minor adjustments.

Nature discovery: Our Wilder Wilderness

With one of our knowledgeable guides, exploring the wonderful wildflower meadows and ancient woodland of the Wilderness Centre. Stop off to meet the cows and Dartmoor ponies that help maintain the meadows, or visit the 1000 year old tree. Notice the tracks and signs of animals such deer and wild boar. In the evening we can go bat detecting.

Search & Rescue

Taking place across the whole Wilderness estate, Search & Rescue gives teams a deep dive into developing their problem solving, team communication, resource allocation and leadership. Drawing on real-world scenarios this is both fun and testing.

Bushcraft

In our ancient woodland learn about fire making, foraging, shelter building and cooking over an open fire. You can also practice your ‘natural navigation’ to find your way without a map and compass.

Team-building and problem solving

A variety of short and sharp activities to develop and practice teamwork, also listening skills, communications and resilience. This includes gutter run, egg drop and escape room.

 

Off-site activities

Canoeing

Using the iconic River Wye, groups can take part in half day and full day river trips, experiencing the Wye Valley and Symonds Yat, whilst learning about the river and its ecology as well as having an unforgettable adventure.

Mountain biking

Explore the Forest of Dean on 2 wheels, specialist instruction means that you can get the best out of your day from a picturesque ride on the family trail to an adrenaline filled experience on the single track trails.
