Connecting with nature

When we interact with nature, real changes occur in our bodies. Three things happen,

Your heart rate variability and your blood pressure decrease.

Your stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline, go down.

We become much happier and calmer, and our senses, sight, sound, and smell all interact with nature, bringing about positive health outcomes

We are a nature-based learning centre set in 30 acres of ancient woodland, wildflower meadows and gardens in the heart of the Forest of Dean. We enjoy stunning views of the River Severn, the Cotswolds, and the Malvern Hills, over 20 miles away.

Our aim is to make nature accessible to everyone

Less screen time, more green time.

Being in nature is good for us, whether you’re swinging from ropes, abseiling down rocks, or simply enjoying the calming, soothing effects of looking at green open spaces. We believe nature has a profound impact on our health, and the Wilderness Centre can help you reconnect with and benefit from the natural world around you.
