21st May 2015

Welcome to my Blog! My intention is to keep you up-to-date with the goings on at the Wilderness Centre; feel free to drop me a line :-)

Today, 21st May 2015, was our first official, well sort of official, meeting to discuss getting the Centre up and running. Well to discuss the website really. It is not surprising that potential visitors to the Centre want to know how to get hold of us!

There we were, sat around a table, cups of tea and cream cake in hand; said cake being supplied by a kindly neighbour. We are alll hoping that this has set a precedent!

Once we had agreed the way forward for the website, it didn't take long to get down to the nitty gritty. Reburbishment of the Centre is well underway, but we now need to look at furnishings. We have beds, but what are our visitors to sit on? How do we wish to furnish the "chill out" areas? What else do we need for the kitchen? How are the bedrooms to be decorated? And so on and so on. Not forgetting, perhaps most importantly.... what are we going to feed our visitors? At the end of an exciting day at the Centre, it is imperitive to ensure that our visitors go to bed on a satisfyingly full tummy. We have a foodie at the helm!

There were a few moments of diversion when the subject of quad bikes for the staff came up for discussion but we quickly got back on track. No pun intended!

The day was a success and we all went away with a million and one jobs to do. I have to say I don't think Ihave been this excited since I was a child! The Centre is fondly remembered by those who used it in the past and I have yet to speak to anyone who is unable to recall the excitement of what was often their first time away from home. To be part of restoring this wonderful facility is second to none!

Watch this space....
